Experimental Center of Tropical Forestry, Chinese Academy of Forestry, CAF
Mr. Lu is a professor and director of Research group on Forest Ecology in the Experimental Center of Tropical Forestry, CAF. He was born in 1963, gained a bachelor’s degree on agricultural soil science from Guangxi University in 1986 and a master’s degree on agricultural extension from CAF in 2008. His research field covers ecosystem service function, vegetation restoration technology as well as forest soil science. He took charge in more than 10 research projects such as “Demonstration and popularization of seedling breeding technology of rare tree species in tropical and subtropical zone”, “Vegetation restoration and sustainable land management in the karst mountainous area in Southwest China” etc, and acted as a key member in more than 30 scientific projects. Over the years, he has obtained 30 scientific achievements, the projects, which he participated as a key member, named “Research, demonstration and application of forest ecological network system in China”, “Study on genetic improvement of Chinese fir and its orientation cultivation technique”, “Natural forest protection and ecological restoration technology” won the second prize of National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology in 2003, 2006, 2012 respectively. The project “Research and application of genetic improvement and high efficiency cultivation of Castanopsis hystrix” won the second prize of Guangxi Provincial Prize for Progress in Science and Technology in 2014.
Mr. Lu has published more than 50 papers in high quality journals, involved in writing 10 scientific works, and obtained one patent for utility models.
Professor and Director of research group on silviculture, Experimental Center of Tropical Forestry, Chinese Academy of Forestry, CAF
Mr. Guo is a professor and the head of the research group on forest silviculture of Experimental Center of Tropical Forestry, CAF. After getting the bachelor’s degree from Central South University Of Forestory and Technology in 1983, he was dedicated in the research and popularization of cultivation on high valuable timber trees species, and also engaged in forest germplasm resources and the relevant fields for 32 years. Mr. Guo took charge or worked as the key member of 25 research programs in the last 15 years.
Between 2005 and 2010, he hosted the project “Conservation of tropical tree species germplasm resources and its creation and application”, “Integration and demonstration of technological innovation on high valuable timber with big diameter wood of Castanopsis hystrix and Betula alnoides”. As a major author, he developed some technical standards like “Reference lists of Chinese Major Cultivated Precious Tree Species” and “the list of Chinese Major Cultivated precious timber trees species”.
Between 2011 and 2015, he carried out the research project “Multi-purpose management on big diameter high valuable wood tree species in Southwest China”, and “Research and Demonstration on cultivation of big diameter wood by close-to-nature management for Castanopsis hystrix”,etc.
Over the years, he has published 45 papers and 4 works, like "Silvicuture and sustainable management for tropical and subtropical high valuable and indigenous tree species plantation". And he won the second prize of National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology in 2005, and another 5 provincial awards. Based on the theory of closed-to-nature forest management, he developed the model of cluster planting mixed cultivation mode for high valuable trees species.
