MENG Ping, born in July, 1961, vice president of the academy, PhD. of ecology, chief scientist in ecology of agroforestry system, supervisor of doctorate students.
Working experience: Research assistant in 1983 with the research institute of forestry, CAF, research associate in 1989, associate professor in 1993, professor in 1996, deputy director of the institute in 1993, and director of the institute in 1997.
Research fields: Mainly engaged in research in ecology, forest meteorology, soil and water conservation.
Academic positions: Chairman of the committee of forest meteorology, Chinese Society of Forestry, council member of China Meteorological Society, member of Beijing academic appraisal group for the second, vice chairman of the committee on standardization of combating desertification; vice chief editor of Forest Research and Wetland Science & Management; director of fixed site observation station for forest ecology at Xiaolangdi on the Yellow River.
Awards and academic accomplishments: Enjoys the State Council special allowance since 1993, a 2nd class prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, 3 1st class prizes and 1 2nd class prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award at provincial or ministry level, and Young Scientists Award for the Third by the Chinese Society of Forestry; compiled 5 academic monographs, and published over 90 science papers.
Research projects undertaken: Since 1991, chaired and chairs projects or sub-projects on forest ecological construction of the National Scientific and Technological Support Program, and has been undertaking projects from the National Natural Science Foundation, and High Technology Research and Development Program.
