In CAF's deepening systematic technology reform, to answer the nation's need of technology as the development of forestry and modern forestry construction quicken their steps, in 2003, CAF set up 3 ministerial laboratories: Forestry Administration's Laboratory of Wood Science and Technology, Forestry Administration's Laboratory of Chemical Processing of Forestry Product, Forestry Administration's Open Key Laboratory of Forestry Machinery. Based on these three key laboratories, on Nov 1, 2005, the institute was approved by CAF as an independent nonprofit research institute.
