Expert from Research Institute of Forestry Policy and Information Visited Federation of Swedish Family Forest Owners

From 31st Oct to 2nd Nov, invited by the Federation of Swedish Family Forest Owners (LRF), Deputy Director General of International Forestry Cooperation Center, State Forestry Administration, and experts from CAF visited Sweden, and discussed with family forest owner associations on future cooperation.

On 31 Oct, the delegation visited the Norra Forest Owner Association, situated in Umeå kommun, northern Sweden. They were introduced the history, roles, functional mechanism, management mode, work process, benefits distribution and brand building of the Association. In the morning of the next day, the delegation paid a visit to the Sävar Sawmill, a member of the Norra Forest Owner Association, where they visited the modern timber processing assembly lines, forest management methods and environmental-friendly forest logging equipment, and sat for a seminar with representatives of the forest owners of the Association.

The delegation also went to Skogforsk (the Forestry Research Institute of Sweden), where they visited several applied research laboratories and seed breeding greenhouses, and learnt how Skogforsk provided a better scientific service forest production for forest owners. The delegation visited the Swedish Ministry for Rural Affairs in Stockholm. They exchanged views on strengthening and deepening China-Sweden forest cooperation with Ms. Elisabeth Backteman, State Secretary to Minister for Rural Affairs.

This visit laid a foundation for strengthening and deepening China-Sweden forest cooperation, and will be of great importance to helping China regulate forest farmers cooperative and scale management, and promoting modernization of China’s forest development.

Mr. Wang Dong, senior engineer of Research Institute of Forestry, and Dr. Xie Hesheng, Research Institute of Forestry Policy and Information, were in the delegation, and discussed with the Swedish side on wood industry and family forest cooperative organizations respectively.
