Expert from Dresden University of Technology, Germany, Visited Research Institute of Subtropical Forestry for Academic Exchanges

Invited by Mr. Zhang Jianfeng, research fellow and chief expert of Habitat Environment Engineer Team, Research Institute of Subtropical Forestry, Dr. Ulrich Pietzarka from Institute of Forest Botany and Forest Zoology, Dresden University of Technology, Germany, visited Research Institute of Subtropical Forestry for academic exchanges from 21st to 22nd Nov. Mr. Ma Lilin, Secretary of CPC Committee of Research Institute of Subtropical Forestry attended the exchanges.

Mr. Ma Lilin first briefed development history, main research areas and achievements made of Research Institute of Subtropical Forestry. Dr. Ulrich Pietzarka then made an academic presentation titled On the Ecology of Taxus baccata - In situ conservation of a rare and endangered plant species in Central Europe, in which he introduced growth, species and global distribution of taxus baccata. He also analyzed the process of taxus baccata from a precious timber species to a rare and endangered species, and influence factors. He outlined the in-situ conservation strategy from biological properties of taxus baccata .

Dr. Ulrich Pietzarka also visited the public laboratory of ecology and environment of Research Institute of Subtropical Forestry. The two sides discussed cooperation areas, personnel exchanges and germplasm resources exchange. (Chen Guangcai, Research Institute of Subtropical Forestry)
