Mr. Lu Yuanchang, chief expert and research fellow of Research Institute of Forest Resources Information Techniques, and Mr. Cai Daoxiong, research fellow, and Mr. Jia Hongyan, Deputy Director General and senior engineer of Research Institute of Tropical Forestry, attended the academic exchanges.

Dr. Bi Huiquan made an academic presentation titled Sustainable Forest Management in Australia, in which he outlined forest resources, and history and status quo of forest management in Australia. He used management of plantations of pinus radiate and eucalyptus as examples to illustrate Australia’s experience in management of main tree species.

Dr. Bi Huiquan is the chief research fellow of Forest Science Center, Department of Primary Industries, New South Wales, and professor of School of Forest and Ecosystem Science, University of Melbourne, Australia. He received Ph.D from University of Melbourne, Australia in 1989. He has been conducting research on yield of planted forests and management technical system in Australia. His research area includes forest biomass and carbon estimation, forest biometrics, quantitative silviculture, growth and yield modelling, forest measurements, forest ecology, and forest stand dynamics. Dr. Bi Huiquan has been an editor for more than 20 SCI journals, including Agro Forestry Systems, Annuals of Botany, and Forest Ecology and Management. He has published over 60 SCI articles.
