International Training Base for Bamboo and Rattan was Opened in CNBRC

Opening ceremony

On 4 Dec, the International Training Base for Bamboo and Rattan was opened in China National Bamboo Research Center (CNBRC), State Forestry Administration. Madam Jiang Zehui, Vice-Chair of the Subcommittee of Human Resources and Environment of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Co-Chair of the Board of Trustees of International Network for Bamboo and Rattan (INBAR) and Director General of the International Center for Bamboo and Rattan (ICBR), Mr. Peng Youdong, Vice Minister of the State Forestry Administration, Ms. Chen Yanhua, Vice-Chair of Zhejiang Provincial People’s Political Consultative Conference, Mr. Ye Zhi, Secretary of the CPC Sub-committee of CAF, and Mr. Lin Yunju, Director General of Zhejiang Department of Forestry attended the opening ceremony.

In recent years, INBAR and ICBR made a lot of progress in south-south cooperation and development of the international bamboo and rattan industry. They have contributed to poverty eradication, promoting international trade of bamboo and rattan, advancing scientific innovation and industrial upgrading and transformation, realizing targeted poverty reduction and cultural inheriting and innovation. Madam Jiang Zehui said that sustainable development is the theme of modern development. Green industry and green poverty reduction is a common choice of all developing countries. As called on by the national development strategy demands, ICBR and CNBRC have given their advantages into full play, and achieved progress in realizing resource integration, advantages complementarity, sharing results for a win-win progress, and working together towards prosperity and development of the international bamboo and rattan industry.

Mr. Lin Yunju introduced the current forest development in Zhejiang. He said that the bamboo industry is one of the pillar forest industries in Zhejiang. In recent years, technological innovation and targeted support have improved the industrial scale and economic benefits. At present, the bamboo industry is at a critical stage of transformation and upgrading. CNBRC has contributed to the bamboo industry development in Zhejiang. The International Training Base for Bamboo and Rattan, located in Hangzhou, will provide stronger technical support, and serve as a talent training platform for bamboo industry development in Zhejiang. Zhejiang Department of Forestry will fully support the development of the International Training Base for Bamboo and Rattan, and further strengthen in-depth cooperation in industrial rejuvenation, talents training, and technical innovation, so as to contribute to modern forestry development in Zhejiang.

Mr. Ye Zhi reviewed CAF’s foreign-aid training development. He hoped that cooperation can help CAF to continuously improve the training level and quality with a higher mission, stronger responsibility and wider international vision, through enterprising, innovation and constantly pursuing excellence. In this way, CAF can work to promote sustainable development of international bamboo and rattan industry, and make a greater contribution to build a shared community in five dimensions, namely enduring peace, universal security, common prosperity, openness and inclusiveness, and making our world clean and beautiful. 

Mr. Tian Yongchen, Director General of CNBRC made remarks on CNBRC’s reform and development, research focus, international cooperation and the base development, and introduced its work on international cooperation and foreign-aid training.

The opening ceremony was hosted by Mr. Wang Yukui, Secretary of CPC Committee of CNBRC. Leaders and experts from the State Forestry Administration, Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Zhejiang Department of Forestry, INBAR, ICBR and SFA, and executives and division directors of CNBRC attended the opening ceremony.
