CAF Contributed to Exchanges between China National Sand Control and Desert Industry Society and Youth Overseas

 An interview with Rela Vazeri Zenjeni

During UNCCD COP13, Mr. An Fengjie, President of China National Sand Control and Desert Industry Society (CNSC) and Mr. Huang Jian, CNSC Vice President and CAF Vice President met with youth representatives from Africa, Asia, Latin America and Central and Eastern Europe attending the conference, and were engaged in in-depth exchanges with them on 10 Sep. Youth representatives were also interviewed by related press.

Youth representatives in exchanges and interviews include Ceedo Cabre, executive of Guie pilot farm of Burkina Faso from Africa, Aleg Carapetrian, CEO of LLC Solutions Co. of Armenia from Central and Eastern Europe, Rela Vazeri Zenjeni, ecologist and program coordinator of Sustainable Development and Environmental Protection Research Center of Iran from Asia, and Laurina Teresa, program coordinator of Pakind Network of Bolivia from America. They spoke highly of China’s achievements in desertification combating, degraded land restoration, ecological sustainable development, innovation and application of environmental protection science and technologies, and industrial development in desert regions. They said that China’s practices and achievements in desertification combating and ecological governance rank among the first in the world. China sets a good example for all other countries, in particular, developing countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America. They hoped that they could strengthen communication and cooperation with the Chinese government, industry, academia and social organizations. Meanwhile, they expected China’s desertification combating would provide more and better demonstration effects to the world.

This is the first time that the UNCCD COP was hosted by China. It received a lot of attention from the Chinese government and the world. Delegations from 196 parties and international organizations were engaged in discussions on desertification combating, climate change and sustainable development of mankind existence environment. CNSC hosted the Desertification Control and Precise Poverty Alleviation Side Event, and organized an exhibition of China’s achievements in desertification combating, which received concern and recognition from UNCCD, State Forestry Administration of China and political, industrial, educational and research institutions from all over the world.

Mr. An Fengjie said that CNSC would join hands with all related partners to contribute to desertification combating, poverty alleviation, ecological governance and scientific and technological innovation.
