Professor LI Yi from the Department of Plant Science, University of Connecticut was invited to give a talk at Chinese Academy of Forestry on July 2nd 2013. His presentation title was “Crop Improvement: Is it Genetically Modified or Not?” The theme of his presentation was employing the gene deletor technology his lab developed to produce non-transgenic pollen, seeds or edible products from transgenic plants, and using modern third generation breeding technologies to  develop non-transgenic varieties with high efficiency.

Professor LI was invited by CAF’s the State Key laboratory of Forest Tree Genetics and Breeding for the purpose of academic exchanges. Professor LI visited and toured some laboratories and greenhouses and also had informal discussion with scientists in the Academy.
