Vice-President Michael Wingfield, who is concurrently the director of the Agricultural Sciences in the Forestry and Agricultural Biotechnology Institute (FABI) and the head of Faculty of Biological in the University of Pretoria, Republic of South Africa, visited the Chinese Academy of Forestry on August the 27th, 2013. Vice president LIU, Shirong of the Academy met with and held talk with the visiting guest.

Professor Wingfiled briefed the host the future development trend of IUFRO as well as the basic information about Forestry and Agricultural Biotechnology Institute. Vice president LIU elaborates the important role exhibited by CAF in the process of bilateral cooperation with IUFRO and expresses CAF’s persistent support to IUFRO development and willingness to broaden the collaboration between the two sides. XIE Jian, Party Secretary of China Eucalyptus Research and Development Center of CAF, reported the research works of the center as well as the bilateral cooperation project with the University of Pretoria. The meeting also focuses on the future collaboration arrangements in the research fields of forest health, insect pest control in addition to postgraduate education program. Present at the meeting has been research fellows and administrative personnel from CAF’s International Affairs Department, China Eucalyptus Research and Development Center and Research Institute of Forest Ecology, Environment and Protection.
