A delegation from the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN) of Switzerland led by Mr. Adreas G?tz, Vice Director of FOEN on 31 October, 2012 visited CAF and met Mr. HUANG Jian, Vice President of CAF, Prof. XIAO Wenfa, Director of Research Institute of Forest Ecology, Environment and Protection (RIFEEP), and other interested experts from CAF. The Swiss delegation was attended by Mr. Josef Hess, Executive Director of LAINAT and Mr. Christian Küchli, Head of Forest Division and accompanied by Mr. Philippe Zahner and Ms. Laetitia Coenca from the Swiss Embassy in Beijing.

Mr. HUANG Jian expressed warm welcome to the delegation and looked forward to fruitful cooperation and exchanges between CAF and FOEN in the future based on this kick-off of mutual contacts. Mr. G?tz said Switzerland was faced with the same environmental challenges in the context of climate change and would like to seek more collaboration with CAF to find solutions.

The discussion involved the adaptation of forests to climate change, invasive species and their biological control, forest tenure reform and other fields of common interests.
