“Illustrated Desert Plants in China” Released in December 2012

The illustrated Desert Plants in China has been published by China Forestry Publishing House and released in December 2012. The principle editors are LU Qi , Research fellow and Director of CAF’s Research Institute of Desertification Studies and CHU Jianmin, Associate research fellow of CAF’s Research Institute of Forestry as well as Research fellow WANG Jihe from Gansu Desert Control Research Institute. The book illustrated and descripted 610 typical deserts plants species (including 12 variants) belong to 291 genus of 76 families, of which 2 species of pteridophyte plant, 10 species and 1 variant of gymnosperm, 55 species and 3 variants of monocotyledon, 531 species and 8 variants of dicotyledoneae, which covers almost all the major desert vascular plant in China. This identification guidebook provides brief descriptions of features, distribution, habitat and value of use for each desert plant. The colored desert plants pictures illustrated the shape and form of the branch, the leaf, flowering, fruits and the seeds as well as biotope environment plus their geographic distribution maps. The publication of Desert Plant in China illustrations has been an important supplement to the previous books of “Desert Plants in China” and the encyclopedia of “Higher Plants in China Illustrations”.
