Meeting at CAF’s Bamboo Research & Development Center
Headed by Ms. Flavia, Minister of Uganda Ministry of Water and Environment, an eight-member delegation from Uganda State Forestry Agency visited CAF’s Bamboo Research & Development Center from March the 13rd to 15th . The delegation handed over to the Center a package of development plan of bamboo industry in Uganda and expected that the Center could provide technical assistance to push forward the bamboo industry cooperation between China and Uganda. The delegation visited the industries of bamboo shoots processing, bamboo wood manufacturing, bamboo shade making, bamboo furniture production as well as bamboo wood manufacturing machinery in Anji City of Zhejiang Province. In Lin’an City, discussion has been held on the issues of bamboo breeding, import of bamboo seeds as well as the construction of new countryside in China. Deputy Director-General ZHANG Hongyan of International Cooperation Department of SFA, who accompany the delegation, expressed SFA’s willingness to launch forestry cooperation with Uganda and other African countries.
Ms. Flavia had joined the “Ministerial Officials Workshop on Promoting Forestry (Bamboo Industry) between China and Developing Countries” in October 2011, which was sponsored the Ministry of Commerce, People’s Republic of China. It is scheduled that the Minister will lead the delegation to visit the “6th Yiwu Forestry Expo” in November 2013 to further push the efficient and pragmatic cooperation in bamboo industry between the two countries.
