Dr. Carl G. Amerhein, Provost and Vice President of the University of Alberta (U of A), Prof. Gordon George Houlden, Director of China Institute and Prof. Lawrence Chia-Huang Wang, Co-founder of ECO Fund visited the Research Institute of Resource Insects (RIRI) on 9 November, 2012 and held discussion with RIRI’s scientists. Mr. LU Wenming, Director of International Cooperation Division, CAF met with the delegation at RIRI on behalf of Prof. ZHANG Shougong, President of CAF and conveyed warm welcome and heartfelt gratitude to the delegation.

Dr. CHEN Xiaoming, Director of RIRI gave a brief introduction to RIRI and its recent progresses in scientific researches, team building and research capacity building as well as collaboration with ECO Fund. The meeting held discussion on topics of common interests including insects used in making industrial raw materials, scale breeding of butterflies, researches on bamboo species growing in Yunnan, etc. Both sides showed wishes in furthering cooperation and exchanges in both researches and scientists. The delegation visited RIRI’s key labs and greenhouse after the meeting.
