Research Institute of Desertification signed the MOU with State Forestry Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Research.

On 31st July, delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan had a visit to the Research Institute of Desertification and received heartfelt welcome from fellows Lu Qi and Wu Bo, director and deputy director of RID. Mr. Lu and Khamzaev A.Kh, Director of the Forestry Research Institute of the State Forestry Commission, signed cooperation memorandum. On basis of the agreement, two parties would be more engaged in exchanges and contacts, share documentations and make researches and experiments with each other. Besides, they would also cooperate to nurture talents and establish friendly platform for scientific research.

Uzbekistan is the second country of Five Central Asian countries to establish new cooperation and research relationships after Kazakhstan, which have carried out academic companion research with RID from 2015 to 2018. It is one of the important countries along the BR (Belt and Road). The cooperation would open a new chapter of cooperation in desertification between two countries and further implement the “Belt and Road Initiative” (BRI) put forward by president, Xi Jinping. Promotion of prevention and control of desertification in Uzbekistan through scientific study would highlight our strength in desertification prevention and control through science and technology, which is beneficial to forge ahead internationalized China Mode and the establishment of the leading position of China in desertification prevention and control.

Before that, fellow Khamzaev A.Kh and other 4 Officials of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in China visited RID. They made academic exchanges with young fellows on deterioration of ecological environment, improvement of Saline alkali land and forecast and monitoring of desertification under the leadership of   fellow Feng Yiming from RID (Research Institute of Desertification)
