The Pro. Édira CBA Gonçalves of Federal University of Rio de Janeiro

On September 16th, the Pro. Édira CBA Gonçalves of Federal University of Rio de Janeiro was invited by the plant extraction and utilization laboratory to visit Institute of Chemical Processing and Utilization of Forest Products. During the visit, Pro. Édira CBA Gonçalves delivered an academic report entitled “Bioactivies compounds in functional food - characterization and application”. The report has introduced in detail the latest progress related to the extraction and separation of natural plant extracts, development and evaluation of functional products and the research result of Pro. Edira CBA Gonçalves’ research team in food chemistry and by-product utilization, processing technology, product development and functional evaluation. Pro. Edira CBA Gonçalves also visited the chemical utilization laboratory of plant extracts of forest and chemical institute and had in-depth communication with the research team. Based on the previous cooperation agreement, the two sides discussed further cooperation in joint research, student training, project application and other aspects regarding high-value utilization of forest resource extracts.

 

Pro. Édira CBA Gonçalves, working for school of food chemistry and nutrition in Federal University of Rio de Janeirois a doctoral supervisor and permanent member of the Brazilian health food association. He has long been engaged in the research of processing technology and functional evaluation for food chemical and natural products, and has also made great achievements in high value-added processing and utilization of food waste. Pro. Édira CBA Gonçalves issued more than 60 academic papers, published 4 books and nurtured many postgraduate students and doctoral candidates.
