On September 24, Jiang Yuanxi and Dr. Piao Qiheng, director of the Research Department of Forest Growth and Restoration of the Korean Academy of Forestry, visited Experimental Center of Desert Forestry for an academic exchange on the evaluation of the outcome of silvicultural measure in arid areas. The Experimental Center of Desert Forestry organized a symposium, chaired by the director of Experimental Center of Desert Forestry Lu Qi. 

At the meeting, Jia Yukui, secretary of the party committee of the center extended a warm welcome to the visit of Korea Academy of Forestry to Experimental Center of Desert Forestry, and introduced the scientific research cooperation and achievements between the center and Korea Academy of Forestry since 1996. Jiang introduced the purpose of this visit, which is to pursue the scientific and technological cooperation in all aspects. Dr. Piao Qiheng gave a brief introduction for the evaluation of outcome of silvicultural measure implemented in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Guizhou Province, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region etc. 

In August, the center and the Korean Academy of Forestry signed a cooperation agreement on the research on the ecological recovery effect of the ecological recovery sample land in the sand area of Ulan Buh. Researchers from both sides will jointly investigate and study the ecological restoration sites in this area and use ecological and socio-economic approaches to assess the ecological and socio-economic impacts of desertification control on the local ecological restoration sites. 

The experts from Korean Academy of Forestry also investigated the tree growth in the test site of the China-South Korea cooperative desert treatment project from 2008 to 2010.
