Education:
Dr. Wang holds a PhD (2001) and Master (1995) in Physical Geography from Cold and Arid Regions Environmental and Engineering Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Science and Bachelor (1987) in Hydrology and Water Resources from the Sichuan University (formerly Chengdu Science and Technology University).

He did postdoctoral research in Chinese Academy of Forestry from 2002 to 2004.


Work experience:

He worked in Station Network Division of the Inner Mongolia Hydrology Bureau from 1987 to 1992.

He worked as a civil servant in Inner Mongolia Water Resources Department for the water resources management from 1995 to 2002.

He did desertification controlling research in the Institute of Forestry Research from 2004 to 2009.

Since 2009, he worked at IDS. He currently serves as a member of the National Desertification Combating Standardization Technical Committee and a member of the academic committee in IDS.


Research Interests:
Dr. Wang 's research interests are:

1.Hydrological in arid land: Hydrological investigation and water bearing capacity of desert area in arid area

2.desertification controlling research: Recovery technology research and demonstration of degraded vegetation in Qinghai Tibet plateau.

3.China Desertification Database: Construction of the database of desertification in China, to achieve the data sharing.

Awards and Honors:

He has won the second class prizes of Inner Mongolia Science and Technology Progress Award, the third class prizes of Liang Xi science and technology award. He has presided over or participated in 9 projects of science and technology projects and the National Natural Ncience Fund project. Now he presided over the project including “Alpine arid sandy desertification land comprehensive controlling technology research and demonstration”, “Qinghai Lake watershed eco-hydrological process and water balance”, “Gobi eco-system long-term observation and research”.

He has published a total of more than 68 articles as author. He is also co-editor of 1 monograph, and participate in the preparation of the 4 books.

He was invited to attend the international academic conference and make reports for eight times.
