BIOGRAPHY

Mr. Guo is a professor and the head of the research group on forest silviculture of Experimental Center of Tropical Forestry, CAF. After getting the bachelor’s degree from Central South University Of Forestory and Technology in 1983, he was dedicated in the research and popularization of cultivation on high valuable timber trees species, and also engaged in forest germplasm resources and the relevant fields for 32 years. Mr. Guo took charge or worked as the key member of 25 research programs in the last 15 years.

Between 2005 and 2010, he hosted the project “Conservation of tropical tree species germplasm resources and its creation and application”, “Integration and demonstration of technological innovation on high valuable timber with big diameter wood of Castanopsis hystrix and Betula alnoides”. As a major author, he developed some technical standards like “Reference lists of Chinese Major Cultivated Precious Tree Species” and “the list of Chinese Major Cultivated precious timber trees species”.

Between 2011 and 2015, he carried out the research project “Multi-purpose management on big diameter high valuable wood tree species in Southwest China”, and “Research and Demonstration on cultivation of big diameter wood by close-to-nature management for Castanopsis hystrix”,etc.

Over the years, he has published 45 papers and 4 works, like "Silvicuture and sustainable management for tropical and subtropical high valuable and indigenous tree species plantation". And he won the second prize of National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology in 2005, and another 5 provincial awards. Based on the theory of closed-to-nature forest management, he developed the model of cluster planting mixed cultivation mode for high valuable trees species.
