On February 16, DamdinjamtsJagdag, officer from Forestry Policy and Coordination Department of the Ministry of Environment, People’s Republic of Mongolia, and MunkhbatDovdontseren, Director of Mongolia’s Forestry Research and Development Center, along with staff from the Mongolian Embassy, visited the Biological Control Engineering Center, Research Institute of Forest Ecology, Environment and Protection.
The purpose of the visit is to seek biological control technology and products for the main forest pests in Mongolia:Lepidoptera leaf-eating insects like Gypsy moth, Pine caterpillars, Antique tussock moth, Larch looper, Spring inchworm ,etc.
Researcher Wang Xiaoyi, deputy director of Research Institute of Forest Ecology, guided the visitors through the Natural Enemy Insects Laboratory and Insect Virus Laboratory. The Mongolian experts communicated with local experts on pest and disease control, and were recommended biological control products like Bt.
There will be further cooperations in the field of forest pest control and prevention.
