On Mar 9, Prof. Harry Wu Xiaming, chief tree breeding scientist of Swedish University of Agricultural Science, was invited to visit Research Institute of Tropical Forestry for academic exchanges. He was engaged in discussions on genetic tree breeding and improvement and shared the latest research results and experience.
During the discussions, Dr. Guo Junjie, Dr. Huang Guihua and Dr. Hong Bo from Research Institute of Tropical Forestry made presentations titled Genetic improvement of betula alnoides, Breeding strategies and research progress in teaks in China, and Breeeding technologies and strategies of precious timber species of dalbergia hupeana respectively. Harry Wu Xiaming used his experience in genetic improvement in pinus radiate, pinus sylvestris and picea abies in Canada, Australia and Sweden to propose his ideas and suggestions on genetic breeding strategies and approaches of betula alnoides, teaks and dalbergia hupeana.
