On 28 Mar, Dr. Nguyen Phu Hung, Director General of Department of Science, Technologies and International Cooperation, Administration of Forestry, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam, Dr. Thieng Nguyen Huy, President, and Dr. Le Dinh Cuong, expert of Vietnam Forestry Inventory and Planning Institute visited Research Institute of Forest Resource Information Techniques for academic exchanges. More than 20 representatives from CAF, including Dr. Xiao Wenfa, Vice President of CAF, Dr. Liu Dejing, Director General and Dr. Li Zengyuan, Deputy Director General of Research Institute of Forest Resource Information Techniques, and Dr. Lu Wenming, Director of Division of International Cooperation, attended the seminar.

Dr. Xiao Wenfa delivered an opening speech and introduced CAF’s advantages and strengths in forest research, and expressed his willingness to enhance bilateral cooperation on forest progress and development within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.

During the seminar, Dr. Nguyen Phu Hung made a presentation to introduce Vietnam’s forest inventory system and technological development. Dr. Li Zengyuan introduced research areas and results of the Research Institute of Forest Resource Information Techniques. Dr. Pang Yong introduced APFNet’s future regional forest observation platform. The two sides discussed cooperation in forest remote-sensing and regional forest observation platforms.

The seminar facilitated bilateral understanding on forest resource inventory and cooperation. The two sides are willing to work together to promote application of new remote-sensing technologies in forest resource inventory and building a dynamic coordination platform for Southeast Asia regional forest resource inventory.
