CHU Fuxiang

CHU Fuxiang, male, born on September 1, 1963,  professor, PhD supervisor, president of the Chinese Academy of Forestry.

Education and working experiences: 1979 – 1983 in Nanjing University, bachelor; 1983 – 1986 in the Research Institute of Chemical Processing and Utilization of Forest Products, CAF, master; 1987 – 1991 the same institute, doctor; 1994 – 1996 in French National Center for Scientific Research ( CNRS ), post doctor; 1986 – 2004 in the Research Institute of Chemical Processing and Utilization of Forest Products, CAF, research assistant, associate professor and professor; 2004 – now in the Chinese Academy of Forestry, professor and vice president.

Academic positions: member of the Chinese Association of Science and Technology; member of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee; member of the Experts Advisory Committee for the national Bio-industry Development; vice chairman of the Sub-society of Chemical Processing and Utilization of Forest Products, CSF; executive director of Chinese Association of Bamboo Industry; vice president of Beijing Institute of Adhesives; member of the Board of Trustees of International Network for Bamboo and Rattan ( INBAR ).

Academic achievements: 17 Chinese patents for invention applied, of which 9 granted; published over 40 papers in academic journals both at home and abroad since 1997, of which 18 are of SCI; much of his research achievements have been applied in industrial production.

Projects undertaken: Chief scientist of Bio-based High Polymer New Material Technology and Products, a project from the Technology Research and Development Program; Bio-based High Polymer New Material Technology Introduction and Innovation, a project from the program Introduction of International Advanced Forest Science and Technology; Technological Development for Industrialization of Cellulose Acrylate Hybrid Emulsion, of the Agricultural Scientific and Technological Achievements Conversion Program.

 Awards received: Third class awards for Science and Technology Progress Award from the State Forestry Administration in 1991 and 1994; the National Outstanding Youth Science and Technology Entrepreneurship for the third in 1999; China Forestry Youth Science and Technology Award in 2001; National Advance Individual Among Returned Students in 2003.
