Having conducted research on the application of information techniques (including GIS, RS, statistical and numerical analysis and computer) in combating desertification and ecosystem management for about 18 years.

2006,11-2007,11, A visiting scholar studying in Helsinki University, Finland. Conducting cooperation research on: (1) to estimate forest stand factors by RS techniques; (2) to develop management information system of forestry resource.
2001 - 2004, D.Sc. in Forestry, Chinese Academy Forestry, China. The title of dissertation "Spatial Statistics and Its Application Study in Mapping and Image Processing of Forest".
1995-1998, M.Sc. in forestry, Henan Agricultural University, China. The title of dissertation is "Establishment of Urban Forestry Resource Geographical Information System and Its Application".

Main project features: Selected the main distribution area of the Gobi Desert and conducted a comprehensive, ecological background survey including climate, water, soil, and flora and fauna survey.

Activities performed: Adopting the remote sensing, GIS and computer techniques to monitor land desertification. Some results are as follows.1) Sandification land information extraction based on Object-oriented Classification Method, 2013; 2) Gobi information extraction study based on Decision Tree Classification method, 2013; 3) Land use dynamics of Alpine-cold desertified area in the Qinhai-Tibetan Plateau in the last 30 years: a case study in Guinan County, Qinghai Province, China, 2011 etc.

Main project features: Optimizing the sustainable forest management planning and its implementation in the WMFLB

Activities performed: Primary activities included: 1) Analyze the technical options to prepare FMP (Forest Management Plan) based data of the Second class forest inventory and aerial photos; 2)Develop suggestions to integrate the project monitoring standards into the regular monitoring standards of the Municipal Forestry Design and Inventory Institute; 3) Support the further development of improved monitoring practices, including the mapping and inventory methods (use of orthophoto maps); 4) Provide programs to PMC for GIS-based FMP and planning and implementation sheets; 5)Write guidelines for the inventory for FMP and monitoring.
Main achievements:
Having presided over 20 projects in this period, which were funded by different channels, such as Ministry of Science and Technology of P.R.C., STORAENSO company of Finland, National Science Foundation of China, and State Forestry Administration etc.
Having published about 70 academic papers, while first author is 53 papers, and 5 papers were indexed by SCI, 2 papers were indexed by EI, on Remote Sensing application, GIS application, computer techniques, land desertification monitor, forest resource management etc.
Having published 17 monographs, while 3unattached book, 14 cooperating author book.
Having gotten 1 invention patent-“Quantitive estimation the stand crown by Geostatistics based on high-resolution remote sensing images”.
Having gotten 2 software copyright, one is “Forestry subcompartment division system by remote sening techniques”, the other is “Forestry spatial statistic analysis system”.
Having gotten 2 standards, one is “Regulation on Processing and Application of SPOT-5 Satellite Image for Forest Resource Inventory”, the other is " Regulation on collecting and transmitting of remote observation data for desertification ecological systems ".
