Research Experience

1986-1992 ( Research assistant, department of forest genetic and tree improvement) joining the cooperative project between China and Australia, namely “Introduction and Cultivation Experment for Australian Broad-leaved Tree Species ”(CAF/ACIAR projects 8457and 8848),and participating another China-Australia Afforestation Project, it was to become known as “The Dongmen State Forest Farm Eucalypt Afforeststion Project” , engaging in researches of eucalypt tree species introduction experiments in south China and cross breeding of eucalypts in Dongmen, Guangxi, China.

1992-1996 (Assistant Researcher, vice director of forest genetic and tree improvement ) engaging in the project of Research and extension of cultivation technology on fast-growing and high-yielding eucalyptus plantationof NAP and FRDPP, the World Bank Loan Project. This project developed stock breeding technology, seedling production, cultivation technology, optimal cultivation model and then to support established of 200,000 ha eucalyptus plantation in Hainan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan and Fujian provinces in southern China.

1996-2001(Associate professor, director of forest genetic and tree improvement ) participating the project (PD 14/92 Rev. 2(F) ) “Classification, Management and Sustainable Utilization of Tropical Forestry in Hainan Island” funded by ITTO , working in  sub-project of tropical forest plantation demonstration area in Hainan island. Directing a center demonstration nursery, investigated the growth of plantation and monitored soil fertility. Participating the national key project in Ninth-Five year plan, namely, “improved variety selection and cultivation technology for eucalyptus tree species for pulp wood ”, making a strategy of improvement and breeding for tropical eucalypt tree species in southern China.

2001- Now (Professor, chief expert of tree improvement and breeding) Participating the national science and technology support program of Selection on superior variety of fast-growing broad-leaved tree species and developing advance technology of silvicuture in southern China. During the national eleventh and twelfth 5 years plan, taking charge in the project of “New varieties of high-yield eucalyptus species selection for industry wood”, and presiding over the 948 projects of  “Introduction advances in pollination techniques for large-scale production hybrid in eucalyptus” and “Introduction of pinus kesiya germplasm resources and its the cutting techniques for large-scale production”, and taking charge in the thirteenth Five-year National Key R&D Program, namely, the project of “Research on the oriented cultivation technologies for eucalyptus paper pulpwood” .
