Prof. Zhang Yaoqi from Auburn University Was Invited to Research Institute of Forestry Policy and Information for Exchanges

On 11 May, Prof. Zhang Yaoqi from Auburn University of the U.S. was invited to Research Institute of Forestry Policy and Information for academic exchanges, and attended a seminar with researchers. The seminar was hosted by Ye Bing, Deputy Director General of Research Institute of Forestry Policy and Information.

At the seminar, Zhang Yaoqi introduced his research and achievement in the U.S. in recent years. Ye Bing introduced discipline development, main research areas and programs of the Research Institute in recent years. The two sides discussed on hotspot and frontier issues including land tenure, ecological services evaluation and compensation, ecological and environmental cognition and behaviors, small-scale forest management, and the link between mankind social systems and natural systems, and reached consensus on further strengthening cooperation on forestry history and ecological culture and small-scale forest management.

Prof. Zhang Yaoqi proposed ideas to further enhance characteristic disciplines development on world forestry, forest certification and forest products trade with regard to research areas and future development directions of the Research Institute of Forestry Policy and Information. He also suggested enhancing youth cultivation and strengthening education for graduate students. As the chief editor of World Forests, deputy chief editor of Small Scale Forestry and member of the editorial board of several forestry economy journals, Prof. Zhang Yaoqi expressed his willingness to provide support and assistance on publishing articles for researchers of the Research Institute.

Prof. Zhang Yaoqi worked for Research Institute of Forestry Policy and Information, and is now working for School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences of Auburn University. His research focuses on forestry economics and policy. He published nearly 80 SCI/SSCI articles and 20 articles on core Chinese journals. Prof. Zhang Yaoqi is renowned in international resources and environmental economics. (Research Institute of Forestry Policy and Information)
