From July 16 to 19, on invitation from the group of bamboo resources and applications, Researcher Tombolato Antonio Fernando from St Paul Brazil Agricultural Research Institute and Doctor Lajovic Carneiro Luciano from Federal University of Goias came to Research Institute of Subtropical Forestry to exchange ideas on bamboo shoots processing and efficient bamboo culture techniques.

Accompanied by technicians from Research Institute of Subtropical Forestry, the Brazilian experts visited the Experiment Building, Miaoshanwu Experimental Forest, Qianxi Bamboo Shoot Factory in Fuyang, Hangzhou, etc. The foreign experts showed great interests in our achievements on efficient culture of bamboo forest and deep-processing of bamboo shoots, and expressed hope to further the technological cooperation.

The chief purpose of this visit is to settle down the details of the 2011 “Memorandum of Understanding On Bilateral Technological Cooperation On Bamboo Industry Development Of Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of Brazil And Ministry of Science and Technology of China”signed by China and Brazil. As the Chinese undertaker appointed by Ministry of Technology, CAF took charge of the technology aid program towards developing countries “China Offering Brazil Technologies of Culture and Efficient Use of Bamboo”. The aim of the project is to enhance Brazil’s production of bamboos and bamboo shoots by offering selected seedlings, techniques of selective seedling, propagation of bamboo, culture of bamboo forest, and by studying the techniques to restructure Brazil’s local bamboo forests. The ultimate purpose is to promote Brazil’s bamboo industry, thus to improve the bamboo farmer’s revenue and make contribution to ecological protection.
