On May 17, Mr. Herbi Silva, President of Sri Lanka Herbilan Group and his two colleagues came to visit the Bamboo Research and Development Center. Director Chen Yu and Deputy Director of the Center welcomed Mr. Silva and hosted the seminar.

At the seminar, Chen Yu and the Deputy Director introduced the background, research areas and achievements of the Bamboo Center, and described the present situations of China’s bamboo culture and processing industry. Mr. Herbi Silva said that China’s bamboo industry ranks the best of the world, and that culture and processing of bamboos can not only alleviate lack of timber resources, but also acquire economic development. The bamboo industry benefits both the country and its people, and would have a bright future in Sri Lanka too. Also he expressed wish to take further communication and cooperation with the Bamboo Center on the culture and processing of bamboos.
