Conservation Experts from New Zealand Visited CAF

A delegation composed of Mr. Bruce McKinlay, Technical Advisor and Ms. Carol West, Manager of Terrestrial Ecosystems Unit of NZ Department of Conservation and Mr. Adrian Riegen, Vice Chairman of the Miranda Naturalist Trust and his two coworkers from the trust visited the National Bird Banding Center in CAF on May 9th. The discussions focused on the shorebirds migration between China and New Zealand. The visit was part of New Zealand’s engagement with the East Asian-Australasian Flyway Partnership (EAAFP) in order to protect habitat in the Yellow Sea which is of critical importance to migratory shorebirds native to New Zealand. A tentative intention of cooperation has been reached between the National Bird Banding Center and NZ Department of Conservation on information exchange, co-organization of workshops, and so on.
