On May 15, the National Bamboo and Rattan Standardization Technical Committee organized a seminar on “Naming and Definitions of Major Bamboo Products of China” at CBRC. This national standardization project is undertaken by International Network for Bamboo and Rattan (INBAR). Mr. Tan Daochun, Deputy Director of Science and Education Division of INBAR presided over the seminar. Prof. Chen Yuhe, Deputy Director-general of CBRC and Prof. Wu Liangru, Director of Scientific Research Division of CBRC attended the conference.

Mr. Wang Ge, Secretary-general of National Bamboo and Rattan Standardization Technical Committee gave a talk to delineate the guidelines for this national standardization project. Mr. Tan Daochun introduced the compiling situation of this national standardization project. All the participating experts and industrial representatives discussed and revised the draft item by item. CBRC experts took part in the discussion actively and undertook the drafting of names and definitions of bamboo shoot products. CBRC hence became an editing member of this project.

Over 20 bamboo experts and industrial representatives from National Bamboo and Rattan Standardization Technical Committee, INBAR, Research Institute of Wood Industry of CAF, Guangdong Academy of Forestry, Zhejiang Agriculture and Forestry University, Zhejiang Academy of Forestry and bamboo timber and shoots processing enterprises in Zhejiang Province attended this seminar.
