International Symposium on Euro-China Urbanization & Urban Forest Construction inaugurated in Beijing on November the 21st 2013. Minister ZHAO Shucong of the State Forestry Administration attended the opening ceremony, which was chaired by his deputy ZHANG Jianlong., and delivered his keynote speech. The symposium themed on the development of urbanization & urban Forest construction, unifying concepts of “letting the forest ‘living in’ the city” and “urban forest build beautiful China”. Forest is the principle part of terrestrial ecosystem and a significant component of city eco environment. Therefore, forest plays a unique function and role in pushing forward green urbanization. Specialists and scholars from China and abroad focused on the view of urban forest and environment as well as urban development and residents health.

The symposium is organized by SFA’s Urban Forest Research Center (which was set up in 2007 and affiliated to CAF) and has been one of the series of activities in “Euro-China Exhibition on Urban Development” that aims to provide a platform for cooperation and exchanges in regard to “Urbanization and Urban Forest Construction” for China and the European countries. It will help to agglomerate the wisdom from Euro-China and promote the healthy development in urban forest construction in China and European countries. The event exhibited significantly that Euro-China cooperation have been extended to a broad range and also showcased the achievements in urban forest research and demonstration projects by CAF’s Urban Forest Research Center.
