Recent Progress in Woody Biomass Conversion to Biofuel and Nano celluloses Presented by Dr.Junyong Zhu at ICIFP

Dr.Junyong Zhu from Forest Products Laboratory, Forest Service of USDA visited the Institute of Chemical Industry of Forest Products (ICIFP) for academic exchanges from August 18th to 25th, 2013. During his visit, Dr. Zhu gave a talk that focuses on the recent development in the developed countries in biomass pretreatment, biorefinery, high efficiency glucoamylase and high concentration fermentation in addition to the technology of integrated and high value-added use of lignocellulosic materials. Specially, Dr. Zhu introduced the latest technical progress in Nano celluloses production as well as the newest achievements by his research team in Woody Biomass Conversion to Biofuel and Nano celluloses in recent years. Discussions were conducted with the members of International Innovation Task Force of the “Correctly Handling the Relations of Pulp & Paper Making and the Environment Protection” on the biomass pretreatment and the production of the fermentation of celluloses and Hemicellulose.

Cooperation intentions of joint research on biofuel and Nano celluloses materials have been explored. During his stay, Dr. Zhu paid the study tour to Gold East Paper (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd and Jiangsu Tianrui New Material Co., Ltd.
