Professors of Forestry School at the University of British Columbia, Canada Visited Jianfengling Experimental Station of Research Institute of Tropical Forestry in Hainan

In the afternoon of 16th, August, professor John Inners, dean of forestry school at UBC and professor Wang Guangyu, assistant dean visited the Jianfengling experimantal station of Research Institute of Tropical Forestry in Hainan.

John Inners and Wang Guangyu, accompanied by the Lu Zhaohua, director of Finance and Infrastructure of Research Institute of Tropical Forestry and research fellow Xu Han, visited the arboretum and conservation base of precious tree species germplasm resources at jianfengleng Station in Hainan. Director of experimental station, Chen Renli, director of experimental station briefed the construction of arboretums and their precious tree species and showed achievements of the collection and conservation of arboretum germplasm resources. Two sides made deep exchanges in the conservation of rare species.

The arboretum of Research Institute of Tropical Forestry has collected and conserved 134 families, 525 genres and over 1400 tree species from tropical and South subtropical regions, which is characterized by the typical tropical rainforest and tropical landscape plants mainly used in the science education, research and training, eco-science tourism and the conservation of rare tree species.

John Inners gave a highly appraisal of the achievements made by the arboretum in the experimental station on environmental protection and collection of germplasm resources.
