The International Conference on Forests, Trees and Agroforestry for Diverse Sustainable Landscapes was Held in Kunming

From June 22nd to 24th, The International Conference on Forests, Trees and Agroforestry for Diverse Sustainable Landscapes was held in Kunming. The conference was sponsored by Kunming Institute of Botany of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Research Institute of Resources Insects of CAF was invited to co-organize it.

The meeting exchanged and discussed on six themes, including Trees for Agroecology and Circular Agriculture, Tree diversity: Realizing Economic and Ecological Value from Tree Genetic Resources to Bridge Production Gaps and Promote Resilience, Trees in the Framework of the CBD, Mountain Ecosystems and Food Security, Assessing Benefits of Landscape Restoration and Trees for a Circular Green Economy. At the meeting, seven experts, such as researcher Zhang Yanping and researcher Cui Kai from Research Institute of Resources Insects, made theme reports and exchanged ideas combined with the research progress in the development and utilization of woody feed plants, the rapid propagation technology of dragon bamboo, the development and utilization of new seedling matrix, and the change of soil ecosystem in the process of vegetation restoration in the dry-hot valley.

The purpose of this conference is to jointly discuss the ways to promote the green and sustainable development of agriculture and forestry, provide relevant scientific basis for the CBD COP15 and promote biodiversity protection. The conference was conducted by online and offline methods, and more than 200 people from China, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, India, Nepal, Indonesia attended the conference.
